Description
Shirodhara is rooted in the traditional Indian medicine system of Ayurveda, a holistic approach to health that emphasizes balance among the body, mind, and spirit. The technique is believed to restore harmony and tranquility, promoting overall well-being. The oils used in Shirodhara are typically infused with various herbs, chosen for their specific healing properties. The procedure generally lasts between 30 to 90 minutes. The recipient lies supine on a massage table with their eyes covered. A special apparatus, often a copper vessel with a small hole at the bottom, is used to pour the oil in a steady stream onto the forehead. The oil is collected and recirculated to maintain its warmth and flow consistency throughout the session.
